OUR STORY

Boxwood Catering is the catering arm of Boxwood Hospitality, a natural extension of our commitment to redefining event experiences. Just as Boxwood Hospitality was founded to address the challenges of Event Spaces, Boxwood Catering emerged to revolutionize food and beverage with an emphasis on exceptional client service and product quality. Even more than beautiful spaces, Boxwood knew guests deserved an incredible service experience at every stage of the booking, planning and event process, and the team that would soon be known for their passion, attention to detail and southern hospitality began to form.

Like many companies, Boxwood began with a question: why can special event spaces be so difficult to deal with? And why are some of the seemingly most simple steps – pricing, inquiries, availability – exhausting to find answers to? There simply had to be a more transparent, simple and respectful way.

Boxwood’s journey to answer this question began in 2014 with the groundbreaking of The Laurel, a hill country-inspired venue located on over 6 acres of land in Grapevine. It continued in 2016, when we began an eighteen-month restoration of The Cliff House, a beautiful, abandoned church located in the Bishop Arts District of Dallas that had fallen into disrepair. This earned us a prestigious Preservation Dallas Architectural Award and the ability to offer guests a 90-year-old masterpiece for their celebrations.  2017 saw Four Corners Brewing Company, one of the most successful craft breweries in Texas, announce their move to the Cedars neighborhood just south of Downtown Dallas. As they built out the 100 year-old Stables building into a spectacular specialized brewery and event space, they asked the Boxwood Hospitality team to assist in the finish out and management of their event service line.

In 2020, the world faced unprecedented challenges, and Boxwood Hospitality navigated the uncertainties of the hospitality sector with resilience. Despite the difficulties, we not only retained our dedicated team but also grew and improved our services. We supported our clients through uncertain times, demonstrating empathy and professionalism as we collectively adapted to a new normal.

Also in 2020, Boxwood Hospitality began an incredible partnership with Trinity River Audubon Center - an architectural jewel located 15 minutes south of downtown Dallas in the largest urban hardwood forest in America. As the world gradually returned to familiarity in 2021, Boxwood Hospitality proudly announced a new partnership with Klyde Warren Park, an iconic setting in Texas. The year 2022 witnessed the revival of 400 North Ervay as an event space, boasting an incredible rooftop venue in the heart of downtown Dallas with a stunning art deco Courtroom. Additionally in 2022, we embarked on our first Hill Country collaboration with Walden Retreats, introducing the spectacular Event Lodge on the Pedernales River, surrounded by 96 acres of stunning Texas landscapes.

In the same manner Boxwood Hospitality was created to solve some of the most fundamental concerns prevalent to event spaces, Boxwood Catering was born out a need to find a food and beverage solution that cared just as deeply about client service as quality of product.

After an extensive search, Chef Justo Blanco emerged as the natural choice to lead this venture. A Dallas-native, Chef Justo's culinary journey has taken him around the globe, refining his craft and flavors in various prestigious kitchens, from Texas to Belgium, California to Hong Kong.

After returning to the United States and time in San Francisco, Chef Justo returned to Dallas as Chef de Cuisine of Scene Restaurant, followed by a stint at the Four Seasons running banquets and special events. More recently he has run the food programs at Bolsa Mercado alongside time spent at The Statler and Joule hotels. His incredible background led him to be the perfect fit for Boxwood’s newly expanded catering service.

With a background that includes honing his skills at the Texas Culinary Academy and gathering international experience in places like Thailand and Singapore, Chef Justo returned to Dallas, lending his expertise to notable establishments like Scene Restaurant, The Statler, Joule hotels, and Bolsa Mercado. His exceptional background and dedication made him the ideal fit for Boxwood's expanded catering service.

At Boxwood Catering, we blend Chef Justo's culinary mastery with Boxwood Hospitality's unwavering commitment to excellence, delivering a catering experience that goes beyond exceptional food to encompass every aspect of your event.

Today, Boxwood Hospitality stands for an incredible service experience, attention to detail and a desire to - if just for a moment - capture the moments where family and friends join to celebrate the milestones by which we gather together. Welcome to Boxwood and we look forward to hearing your story!
